Penn State wins

BAY SHORE, N.Y. - So I made the trip to the city for the game tonight and the Nits pulled it out, holding off a late rally by the Irish. Good stuff all around on the floor I thought. Battle is pretty good, except he sucks at free throws, and Cornley is still just a beast like I remember him. Andrew Jones III, who absolutely sucked as a freshman when I covered him, also bitched that fatty Harongody on the boards all night.

Other than that, it was a great Penn State crowd, basically all Penn State people in the Garden even on the Notre Dame side where we were sitting. Drinking was done beforehand (they don't serve beer at the NIT. bullshit). The bars around MSG were filled with PSU peeps, too.

A few celebrity sightings at the game for you: Justin Tuck, New York Giants defensive end and Notre Dame alum, with a mftj. Announcer Bill Raftery, who looks like he has his eyes closed all the time. And Paterno hobbled to his seat after going on ESPN during the first half. He sat between women's volleyball coach Russ Rose and women's bball coach Coquise Washington, and behind Spanier.

I wasn't really surprised that Penn State dominated the crowd situation, but it was pretty cool to see it at the Garden and hear all the chants, too. I'm glad I wasn't working.
