Hi boy-o's,
Kim Jong Il hasn't declared war against South Korea yet, unfortunately, so I'm still stuck here. I'm keeping my fingers crossed on his crazy button though, I think it'd be hella sweet to get airlifted outta here. Anywho, I'm jumping on the bandwagon of posting - I check this thing all the time, and it makes me feel less far away from home. I'm glad to hear you're all doing so well!! :) So here's my two cents:
I'm almost halfway done with my contract, which is an excellent feeling. Korea's a great place to be because I literally am spending $480 a month to live an extravagant life and take taxis and go to the casino and basically do fuck all. Have made some really great friends who make my time here worth it... but I really miss the United States. More accurately, I miss the Valley. Are you guys planning on doing the Blue and White game?
Korea definitely has its down sides though - people are really rude and spit everywhere, etc etc... here's an interesting article one of my coworkers found about their lack of integration into the real world: http://www.idlewordship.com/2008/06/for-years-south-korean-leaders-have_24.html Living here has certainly given me a newfound appreciation for life in the States.
Teaching goes well - my kids are great, and it's really fun to watch them grow little by little. I'm not sure what I'm going to do when I get back to the States still - I'll probably be in Pittsburgh readjusting for a while, but who knows from there.
Trey, your new job sounds money. Good luck with law school stuff, I'm sure you'll get in somewhere great! Tenn, sorry to hear about the job situation, but things will get better soon, I hope. The exchange rate is already going back up here, if that's any indication of the state of the US economy. Lou, loved the video. Per, have a great time in Japan - I can't wait to hear about Osaka. I'm sure I'll catch you on Skype, since we'll be sharing a time zone, but if not, take lots of pictures! Ry, the puppy is really cute and its really funny that you let Janelle name the puppy Daisy, because I'm sure that's what happened. So sad that I won't be able to join you guys for the summer house, but count me in for 2010 for sure.
I miss you guys tons, hope everything's going well... stay clear of mirrors and black cats today. :) xo.maddy
