So I showed up, she was rushing around trying to find accomodations for the next couple of days, and I started throwing all the shit away that was left over. I found a bag in a cabinet that looked and smelled like dog-crap complete with maggots, and I thought someone had played a dirty joke on me, until I realized that it was decomposing potatoes. Temi tried to tell me she only owed rent for 1/2 of August, when she really owed for 1/2 May too, then she claimed not to have enough money and said she would mail it in a couple weeks. Her quiet brother was real cool and helped me clean up without me even asking. I put a lot of stuff in hallway which people actually took, some poor fool took the broken TV before I had a chance to take it down to the dumpster. After about 4 hours of trashing and wiping down the microwave and fridge we finished, Temi was real apologetic and offered to make me dinner or buy me a bottle of wine, I declined after Skip's warnings about her cooking. She didn't have a way to move all their stuff to her friend's, so I offered to pick them up the next morning and drive them over when I locked the place up. Me and Modrak got some dinner, watched a movie, and caught up on things.
The next morning I went over at 10, the door was open so I walked in... and the subletters were gone. They had left the keys luckily but must have found someone else to drive them or didn't want to talk to me about the owed rent, hopefully they're honest and will mail to me. I spent another 2 hours wiping down the kitchen and packing up the dishes and glasses to take home. I talked to ARPM about our late fees, and it turns out that the late fees include the maintenance charges. So basically even though we paid rent on time the maintenance costs that we never paid put us in the hole so we got another $100 late fee last month and $80 for end of the contract maintenance. Bullshit. Their system doesn't even work because their accountants spent an hour trying to figure out what the late fees were for and if we paid on time, blah, blah, blah, since it doesn't say on the sheet. So now we owe a total of around $800 + the costs of drycleaning the carpet and probably a couple other things that I didn't have time for or didn't know needed to be done (stupid things like wiping off the blinds) so I don't think we'll be getting the deposit back. I left kind of pissed off but another lunch at Clems raised my spirits. Then I was half way home and realized that I had put my cellphone on the counter while I was cleaning the kitchen. So when I got home I called ARPM and talked to the inspector who had found my phone, but she was a bitch and I had to convince her to let Modrak pick it up.
Dave, I'm glad you didn't get beaten, raped or worse. But I did find your small table saw in our closet. Love all around.
