Los Angeles Times

**SPOILER ALERT - VERY LONG POST**

This is roadtrip broadcast #2 coming live from Tremaine's computer at UCLA.  I think the last update came from the hotel from "The Shining," so I'll take it from there.

We left the hotel and drove through Rocky Mountain National Park which was probably the most amazing thing I've ever seen.  You drive on the highest paved road in the United States and get up to about 12,000 feet as you drive through the mountains.  It's unbelievably beautiful.  Our friend from home has a place in Steamboat, Colorado so we drove there and the two of us had to share a four bedroom, four bathroom chateau in the mountains.  It was ridiculous--we each had our own floor.  After Steamboat we hauled ass to Salt Lake City which was the shittiest place we've been yet.  The biggest building is a Mormon church, all the women wear skirts or dresses, and we got there at 5:00 pm on a Friday and there was virtually no one on the street.  And, if that's not bad enough, the Great Salt Lake isn't even in or near the city.  It was a great disappointment, so we only stayed an hour and then hauled some more ass up through Idaho and into Oregon on our way to Seattle.  Then it got sketchy for a couple nights.

At 4:00 am we stopped at the rest-stop in Dead Man's Pass, Oregon on the old Oregon Trail.  We really needed to sleep and the next rest-stop was 40 miles down the road so we braved it.  The next day we drove into Seattle and spent the whole day.  Seattle was really cool and more of a city than any other place we've been so far.  We saw an impromptu parade in Seattle that night--I'm still not sure what the occasion was--and the Seattle Seahawks cheerleaders were in it and they were seriously hot.  Anyway, we left Seattle late that night and again needed to sleep at a rest-stop so we stopped at the first one we saw.  I believe I was subtly invited to a circle-jerk in the woods by a trucker with 1-inch of his ass-crack hanging out of his pants, but we made it through the night and started down the Pacific coast the next day.

We drove south all along the Pacific coast for two days--it's amazing.  The mountains meet the ocean and you're in between.  Once we finally got into California we started experiencing some beast forests.  We drove through Redwood National Forest which was crazy and we saw our first elk.  After a horrifying midnight drive through a redwood forest--Cruising USA, anyone?--we stayed at an actual motel which was very nice.  The next day we finally made it to San Francisco.  We stayed in San Francisco with a friend from high school for four nights.  It's a very interesting place.  The hills are serious, the bums are everywhere, and marijuana is basically legal.  We went to a pretty cool Asian art museum and we drank a lot.  After San Francisco we drove down to Los Angeles, where we are right now.

We detoxed for two nights with one of Phil's friends from school and tonight will be our fourth night at Trey's.  Trey lives in a pretty pimp dorm complex on campus at UCLA and he has an awesome job.  He has like 10 scripts in his apartment that I've been reading: the upcoming Quentin Tarantino movie "Inglorious Bastards," and the script for "Killing Pablo" just to name a few.  It's been a shit-show since we got here but we're having a good time--I've missed my black prince and it warms my heart to see him.

We'll be here for a few more nights and then hit up San Diego real quick before we start the long haul east.  I think we'll go through Arizona and New Mexico and then tackle the monster that is Texas.  If we can make back to the eastern time zone our chances of survival will increase greatly.

Dave, I drunk-dialed you from a bar in Denver and I still have no concept of where in California you are, so I think we missed you.  My bad--get cracking on that special strain please.

Louie, I got your message about your parents and I appreciate it greatly, but I think we're set in California.  I love you.

Skip, I don't think we'll make it that far south into Florida either, but if we do I'll definitely call you.

I think that's all from me for now.  We're doing alright and I'll give another update when I can.

Nevermore, bitches.
