BUCKHORN, Pa. -- Well, friends. Have I a post for you.
I was on my way home Sunday when my car began experiencing some trouble going up a hill. The engine began to putter a little bit then went back to normal. A few moments later it happened again and I lost acceleration and began rapidly slowing down until I reached zero mph. I pulled off on the side of Interstate-80, about an hour east of State College.
Luckily my parents were stuck in traffic about half an hour in front of me so they were able to turn around to see what was going on. The car started up briefly and my dad was able to drive it to the next exit while I rode with moms. We pulled into a gas station parking lot and tried to fix the car. We thought it was something with the exhaust system backing up so we went to a nearby Home Depot and got some tools to do some work. Long story short: after about 3 hours, it didn't help.
(Note: While we were doing this I swear to god I saw Dave pull into the Uni-Mart across the street in the Benz. I called but he didn't pick up.)
So ... My Volvo is dead. RIP. It's sitting in the parking lot as I type this from a Holiday Inn Express drinking a whisky sour and watching Yanks-Mets. I took my stuff out of my car and put it in the hotel room. My parents are currently driving the rest of my crap home and my dad's tryna come back tomorrow morning to pick me up. We're going to sell the Volvo to a junkyard around here hopefully. It's kind of old, going on 15 years or so.
But here's the really important part.
James Woods, the actor, one of my favorites, is staying in this hotel. I saw him at the Cracker Barrell restaurant next door and the cashier said it was him because it wasn't the first time he's been here. He was sitting by himself in the corner with an iPod on and reading digital camera magazines.
So that's the deal. I'm drinking alone and am going to roam the halls to find Woods.
